Victor Harbor South Australia, a favored holiday destination

Located on the shoreline of Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia and 80km south of Adelaide, the Victor Harbor with its stretch of ocean frontage and rugged granite bluff is a prime tourist destination for visitors from all over the world. Victor Harbor has the largest population of the peninsula with their major financial economic contributors being the industries of agriculture and fisheries. According to the 2006 census the population of the city stood at 10,380. During summer holidays the population expands to triple this figure with the influx of holiday makers who visit Victor Harbor to enjoy the many attractions of the city.
Sought after sites of the city include the Granite Island, which could be reached using the age old transportation system of horse drawn trams. The Granite Island provides shelter during night time to the fairy penguins who take off during day time in search of their food. The city brings back memories of the olden days via its unique transportation systems. The Cockle train, steam locomotive and other old fashioned trains are operated for the services of the visitors and city folk and the train route runs along Australia’s earliest rail route from Goolwa to Port Elliot. Fishing and surfing are favorite pastimes enjoyed at Victor Harbor, with other recreation activities such as rock wall climbing, go-karting, archery, waterslides and canoes could be enjoyed at Greenhill’s adventure park. The younger generation and fun time seekers could take part in the festivals during Schoolies week in November while music lovers can visit the dry zone of the city to listen to live music concerts held regularly.
